DIY and "Ground up" Trends

The recession has created a new influence on fashion. Many trend savvy young women are creating their own "looks" from the ground up. These ladies are using DIY techniques, vintage shopping, and thrifting (and re-making) in order to create some pretty amazing ensembles. Some incredible DIY trends are emerging based on street style. A few DIY trends to not include: Ripped tees and jeans, colorful bib necklaces, and studded and "bedazzled" shoes.

Some of my favorite bloggers that exhibit this "ground up approach to fashion" include: Style Rookie, Almatria, What I Wore

I am extremely fond of this collage of blogs that are created on the basis of street style. These collections of self-taken images display a number of self-created up and coming trends that have become popular through street fashion and the world of DIY blogging. It is exciting to see fashion emerge from the streets. In the past retailers and designers have been the ones to make certain aspects of style. However, now the popularity of fashion seems to be shifting gears to what is worn on the streets!
